I think I’m making a mistake at the join of the final repeat rows. I do the last fpdc and join with a slip stitch into the stitch and not the chain as shown, but it seems like I end up with two back posts. Then I don’t know where to place the first bpdc of the new row.

Looking into a little more, I can see you also love cats and had to laugh when one came on and sat in your work! Reading where you live I discovered you lost a beloved cat a while ago and I feel your loss & heartache. I know that feeling only too well.
